Abbey Runners
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Abbey Runners. The celebrations will include a party in May and some special races in June and July.
Abbey started life during the jogging boom of the eighties as a club called Leeds Runners. When the club affiliated to the AAA, the name Leeds Runners was not acceptable so Abbey Runners was born. In 2003 the club moved to our present home at Adel, where our membership has grown from 80 to over 160.
We cater for runners of all ages and standards, and we now have a junior section. Our members run in road, cross country, fell, trail and off road relay events. We also organise races including the Leeds Abbey Dash and the Eccup 10 mile.
